The implementation of decolonization practices in Africa and their potential contributions to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) presents a multifaceted and significant issue. This paper delves into the implications and potential of decolonization in the African context while acknowledging dissenting views regarding the necessity of decolonization in Africa. It examines the impact of colonialism on African societies, encompassing economic exploitation, cultural suppression, and social inequalities. The discussion extends to the role of decolonization in restoring indigenous knowledge, revitalizing cultures, empowering communities, and fostering solidarity. Furthermore, the paper explores how decolonization practices might contribute to the achievement of SDGs, addressing areas such as poverty alleviation, health, education, gender equality, climate action, and peace and justice. The analysis also respects varying perspectives by suggesting the establishment of inclusive dialogue platforms, promoting educational and ideological diversity, fostering cooperative mechanisms, enhancing democratic engagement and civil society organizations, and developing flexible and inclusive policies. By thoroughly analyzing the significance and potential of decolonization in Africa and acknowledging diverse viewpoints, this paper aims to provide valuable insights and recommendations for the continent's sustainable development.
